Ever since I was a little girl, I have always known that I wanted to go into a field such as Public Relations ,but as I grew older I did not know what exactly to do to break into PR. I have been involved with pageantry since I was about three years old. I learned important life skills such as self-confidence and persuasive public speaking tips. Everyone told me that pageants would prepare me for my career in PR, but I just did not know how.
Now that I am a junior at SIUC and have been involved in PRSSA as well as certain classes, I now understand the connection between the two, and that would be networking.
Why is networking so important you might ask? According to SelfGrowth.com, in the current economic state, jobs are becoming increasingly harder to keep, so we must make the extra effort and networking is the perfect way we can do that.
You can network in college, at your job, at thegrocery store, and for me, participating in pageants.
I have met a women who competed in pageants when they were younger and now own a pageant consulting business. This is my dream, and since I have networked with these women, I have been offered an internship.
Thankfully, I know the importance of networking. Do you?
