PRSSA is both an RSO and a class. A student may take PRSSA for class credit but this is not required to join. Leadership
As an organization, PRSSA is led by an executive board of students who are elected each year by organization members. Assisting the executive board are two faculty advisers, a professional adviser, and a graduate assistant.
PRSSA Structure
The organization is broken down into several committees: activities, publications, professional planning, website, community service, and fundraising.
PRSSA as a Class (SPCM390h)
The primary objective of SPCM 390H is to help students who are preparing to become PR practitioners gain knowledge and hands-on experience so they can become marketable candidates for the profession as well as produce materials for their personal portfolios. PRSSA is a pre-professional student organization that serves as the formal link between PRSSA members and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the nation's premier trade association for the PR profession.
